Grecian Corner: a Greek restaurant in operation since 1970, a Winston-Salem, NC landmark, and my family’s livelihood.
This establishment also happens to have an Instagram account through which my father has allowed me to be a creative director and experiment with social strategies. The one I’m currently implementing comes from an interest in the Greek-inspired, New-York-based streetwear brand, Aimé Leon Dore.
This approach has allowed me to tell our audience about our origin story in a way that’s nostalgic, informative, and aesthetically interesting. It’s much deeper, it’s more vulnerable, and it’s by far the most meaningful creative project I’ve been tasked with yet. With this approach, it’s not just about the food—it’s about the family, the start, and the story.
Gathering content while I’m in grad school has been a bit of a challenge, but we’re making it work. Thanks for the opportunity, Baba!
Be on the lookout for merch that corresponds with this new vintage social strategy—and stop in for a gyro while you’re at it!
